The University of Pécs Medical School, a state-owned and WHO-recognized institution, is your gateway to study medicine in Hungary. Its international program, since 1984, attracts global students, now with learners from 67 countries.
About University of Pécs - PTE-ÁOK
Degrees offered include M.D., D.M.D., Dr. Pharm., and Biotechnologist M.Sc. Every year, around a hundred students graduate, joining the ranks of the accomplished alumni.
The school includes 29 clinical departments, 19 departments for basic sciences and pre-clinical medicine, and multiple sub-departments. A staff of 800 physicians and lecturers contribute to both teaching and research. The University of Pécs provides state-of-the-art facilities like advanced labs and lecture rooms, including a Mediskills Lab with virtual and augmented reality technologies, taking your medical education to new heights.
The University Hospital serves patients from Hungary and abroad, housing approximately 1350 beds. The University Heart Center is one of the most advanced in Hungary.

- Medicine Program: The Medicine program offers 180 spots at an annual tuition fee of €16,750.
- Dentistry Program: 60 spots are available in the Dentistry program with an annual fee of €17,350.
- Pharmacy Program: The Pharmacy program provides 80 spots, with a tuition fee of €8,400 per year.
Between semesters, students enjoy a Christmas break and a summer vacation in July and August.

Admission Process for Pécs University in Hungary

Oral Exam
A motivational interview about medicine-related topics with a university professor.When successfully pass the exam you receive an Acceptance Letter detailing next steps.Each examinee receives a unique link via email to take the test, which lasts for 1 hour 40 mins. The associated fees are $250 for the written exam and an additional $40 for the oral exam. You'll be informed of your admission status within 2 weeks after the exam.
The average acceptance rate for students who apply to Pécs University is 22%.

Sonja: ‘If you're looking for apartments for rent in Pécs, there are plenty of options available for us international students. One great option is the Central Student Service Office (KÖSZI), which has a rental database with furnished two-person flats near the university. The prices range from HUF 45,000 to 100,000 (that's a little over €200). Another convenient choice is Student Housing. They provide a fantastic free apartment-finding service, complete with roommate search and rental contract provision. All you have to do is check their website, pick your favorite apartments, send an email, and they'll handle the rest for you. Super easy! Now, if you're interested in dormitory living, the University of Pécs has got you covered with ten dormitories. The best part is that they offer furnished rooms at around €160 per month. And for us international students, there's good news! You're guaranteed first-year dormitory placement. Oh, and don't forget about Facebook groups! They can be a treasure trove for finding apartments. I found an apartment on Facebook and decided to share it with two other med students.’

It offers great cultural experiences, day trips, and a diverse international student community. I enjoy a lively student life with on-campus and city-wide events, parties, and outdoor activities. When I get to Pécs I usually take the train or plane from Budapest or Vienna.’
Orientation Week
Sonja: ‘During this week, we'll have some must-attend activities, like Matriculation and Course Registration on Neptun, the education platform. It's where we'll get to know our courses, choose our subjects, and handle all the necessary administrative stuff. The highlight of the week will be the Opening Ceremony. It's a big deal, as it marks the official start of our journey towards mastering the Pécs University entrance exam.’
