• Year 1 and 2: In your first and second years, your journey begins with establishing a strong foundation in the basic medical sciences. You'll dive into fundamental subjects such as Medical Anthropology, Biophysics, Public Health, and Molecular Cell Biology. During this period, Chemistry, both general and medical, will play a key role in your education. The courses on Biochemistry and Medical Chemistry will equip you with the necessary knowledge for your future clinical studies. You'll also delve into Anatomy, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the human body structure. Meanwhile, subjects like Behavioural Sciences and Medical Communication will be essential in developing your soft skills for patient interaction.
• Year 3 and 4: As you move into your third and fourth years, your focus will shift to the preclinical phase, diving deeper into subjects like Physiology, Pathophysiology, Microbiology, and Basic Surgical Techniques. More intricate subjects, such as Clinical Biochemistry, Immunology, Pathology, and Pharmacology, will also be introduced. You'll start to shift your attention towards understanding disease processes and patient management, and your practical training will intensify with summer practice in hospitals and Internal Medicine.
• Year 5: In your fifth year, the setting will become increasingly clinical. You'll begin to study more specialized subjects such as Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Neurology, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Surgery. By exploring areas like Endocrinology, Metabolic Diseases, and Infectology, you'll enhance your diagnostic and therapeutic abilities.
• Year 6: Your final year, the sixth, will be centered around a full-year clinical rotation in university hospitals, covering a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. The subjects will build upon your previous clinical knowledge, emphasizing practical application. Upon completing this year, you'll graduate with your Doctor's title and a Master's degree in medicine or dental medicine.
